Meet the team

 

Ian

Ian Obermiller graduated from Marquette University in 2009 with a B.S. in Computer Science. He does web design, software development, and loves to tinker with his computer. While at Marquette, he was a member of the Ubicomp (ubiquitous computing) Lab at Marquette and implemented new and interesting applications dealing with pervasive, wireless computing and security. In his spare time, Ian enjoys learning new programming languages and technologies, reading interesting books, keeping up on tech news, watching Heroes, playing the Wii, contributing to open source projects, and cooking delicious meals.

 

Greg

Greg Jacobs graduated from Marquette University in 2009 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering (focus in software and applications) and a minor in Mathematics. Greg will begin working full-time in July 2009 as part of GE Healthcare's Edison Engineering Development Program, a technology-centric rotational leadership program that combines challenging assignments throughout the business with graduate-level coursework. While in college, Greg participated in Marquette's historic co-op program, working alternating semesters as a full-time intern for GE Healthcare. During school semesters, he worked part-time as the undergraduate assistant to the College of Engineering's Computer Systems Engineer. Greg enjoys reading, exercising, exploring computers, and video games. His main computing interests are software development lifecycle approaches, user interface design, computer security and malware research, and web applications.

Ellen

Ellen Marra graduated from Marquette University in 2009 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. Ellen participated in Marquette's co-op program, working alternating semesters at Welch Allyn, Inc. She is currently in a job search (June 2009) with the challenges of the current economic situation. Ellen enjoys drawing, sewing, reading, video games, Japanese culture, Medieval culture, textile and fiber arts, writing original fiction, creating physics cartoons and socializing with her friends. She looks forward to creating new medical devices and systems that will help people.

The Ubicomp lab

The Ubicomp lab is a research laboratory located in the department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at Marquette University. The lab focuses on research in ubiquitous/pervasive computing, covering a wide range of technologies, platforms, and ideas that aim to integrate computer technology with the objects and activities that surround us in everyday life.
